💡 Print a retraction tower or series of test prints. Start with the middle values and adjust based on results.
Retraction Tuning Tips
- Too much retraction → Gaps, under-extrusion, grinding filament
- Too little retraction → Stringing, blobs, oozing
- Direct drive needs less retraction (0.5-2mm) than bowden (3-7mm)
- PETG is stringy — may need higher retraction + slower speed
- TPU — Minimize retraction or disable entirely
- Dry your filament! — Moisture causes stringing regardless of settings
