Flow Rate & E-Steps Calculator
Calibrate your extruder for perfect extrusion.
⚙️ E-Steps Calibration
Calibrate your extruder motor steps. Do this BEFORE flow calibration.
Measure from mark on filament
New E-Steps:
94.90
M92 E94.90
💧 Flow Rate Calibration
Fine-tune flow after e-steps are calibrated. Print a single-wall cube.
Usually = nozzle diameter
Measure with calipers
New Flow Rate:
95.2%
📋 Calibration Steps
E-Steps Calibration
- Heat hotend to printing temp
- Mark filament 120mm from extruder inlet
- Send
G1 E100 F100 - Measure remaining distance to mark
- Actual extruded = 120 - remaining
- Enter values and apply new E-steps
- Send
M500to save
Flow Rate Calibration
- Print a single-wall test cube
- Measure wall thickness with calipers
- Take multiple measurements, average them
- Enter values and get new flow rate
- Update flow rate in slicer
- Re-print and verify
Troubleshooting
- Over-extrusion — Bulging walls, rough surface, blobs → Reduce flow
- Under-extrusion — Gaps, weak layers, rough infill → Increase flow
- Different filaments — May need different flow rates (PETG often needs 95-97%)
- Re-calibrate after changing nozzle, extruder, or hotend
